that Eric hopes will put him back into the Dutch team. The penultimate
rider in the 11-rider jump-off, Eric overhauled the seemingly
unbeatable target set by Ireland's Cian O'Connor on Rancorrado,
eventual second, while last-to-go, France's popular Penelope Leprovost
on the nine-year-old grey stallion Mylord Carthago HN, (Carthago
x Jalsico B) could only manage clear in 35.97 to wind up in third
. Ben Maher, who scored some valuable World Cup points for the
final in Geneva in April, was also clear in the nail-biting finale,
to finish fourth and best of the British riding Robin Hood W by
Animo (Almez Z x Libero H) out of the International Jumping mare

Guy Williams wins the H&M Santa Stakes 1.60m showjumping competiton
at London Olympia on the eight year old grey gelding Dunkan by
Adiamo Z Animo (Almez Z x Taj Mahal) only two others jumped a
double clear around the big 1.60 track, Christina Liebherr on
her 11 year old KWPN Mount L.B Robin Hood by Calvados (Uriel x
Ibrahim) out of the Prestatie mare Laantje R (Concorde x Farn)
The last of the three double clears was Swedish Rider Svante Johansson
riding her Swedish Warmblood Caramel KS by the Holstein stallion

Five riders shared the prize money in the Puissance Cake. Olympia's
famous wall proved too much for all contestants this year with
not one rider clearing the final height at 2.05.The top five were
Penelope Leprevost (Johnny Boy ll), Italy’s European team
silver medallist Natale Chiaudani on Vigaro Z, Michael Whitaker
on the tall chestnut Fairview Cyber-Space, Ireland’s Cian
O’Connor on the promising and neat-jumping mare Calistra,
and last year’s joint winner Ellen Whitaker on Ladina.

The three British riders nonetheless performed remarkably well
on home ground with an impressive third place for British rider
Carl Hester on Liebling II (Lorentin x Konigspark xx) who rode
an impressive and relaxed test to finish just 1.1 point ahead
of British colleague Laura Bechtolsheimer riding Andretti H
(Arking XX x Cavalier) who's performance appeared a little tense
gaining 77.350 points. Fifth and sixth places went to Richard
Davison on "Hiscox Artemis" with their score of 75.150
points and a very close behind him was US rider Catherine Haddad
riding "Cadilac" with 73.600 points. Both 1st and
2nd places continually add to the KWPN's top ranking WBFSH positions
with both Jazz and Gribaldi as KWPN approved sires.
Anticipation
is building as we count down to the FEI World Cup Dressage qualifier
at the London International Horse Show, Olympia 15-21 December
2009. The small but quality field includes the world number one
Edward Gal with wow stallion Moorland Totilas and promises an
exhilarating two days of high calibre competition.
13 riders are
now confirmed to start in the grand prix on Tuesday 14th December
and all will go through to compete in the grand prix freestyle
on the evening of Wednesday 15th. Last year’s winner and
European gold medalist.
