It's "Jazz" Time again! The infamous KWPN chestnut dressage stallion maintains his lead position with 12,972 points ahead of his closest contender the legendary dressage stallion "Donnerhall" with over 4000 points behind him. Jazz although not always known as being the "easisest" of temperaments has nonthless gone on to become the Dressage sire of the decade.

Jazz was performance tested in 1994 described as honest, reliable, temperamental, likes to look at everything. Very willing to work and works well. The walk is easy with a long stride. He carries himself well in the trot, has very good use of the foreleg and has sufficient power. The canter is sufficient in scope and carriage but it should be more powerful. He rises in the forehand during dressage and he works well. He has a great deal of talent for dressage and gives his rider a good feeling. His scores were well above average with an 8 for his walk, an impressive 9.5 for his trot 8.5 for his canter with three 9's for trainability, stable behavior and overall training.

25 foals out of 100 coverings were presented for inspection, his foal report states " Jazz presented a collection of sufficient to more than sufficiently developed riding type foals that are refined. The collection was very uniform, both in regards to shape and to movement. The head is expressive and well formed. The neck has good shape and length but the transition into the wither/shoulder formation should be smoother. The wither should be more developed but the length is very good. The shoulder has good length and placement. On the whole the back has good shape and muscling, the loins are sometimes a little dense. The croup has good shape and muscling and also has sufficient length. The foreleg is correct, sometimes a little straight. The hindleg is long and often has a strong angle. The circumference of the legs vary from fine to sufficient, the quality is good. The transition of the cannon to the hock is often sharp and the hock should be better developed. The walk is good and sufficient in scope. The foals carry themselves well in the trot, show rise in the front and there is tact and scope with good use of the hindleg. They set their neck and they should relax more through the topline. The foals seldom jump into the canter. One foal that was inspected at home fit into the picture.

Jazz remained a popular choice for breeders in the Netherlands, siring over 100 foals each year in the years that followed and to date Broere Jazz has nine approved Stallions Broere Norway, (Ulft x Amor) Olivi (Aktion x Transvaal) Riant Julio Marnier x G Ramiro Z, Tango Contango x Amor, Vic (Flemmingh x Amor), Westpoint (Jazz x Michealangelo x Le Mexico) x Wynton (formerly Winston) Matador II x Rubinstein I) Johnson (Flemmingh x Sultan) and in Germany Jazz Time and 11 approved grandsons, Armani, Citango, UB40, Undigo, Universeel, Valdez, Vivaldi, Zardando, Zhivago, Zizi Top and Zuidenwind.

Broere Stud in Ablasserdam invested a 10% share in the stallion in 2001 as a syndicate of ten to prevent the horse from being sold abroad but bought out the partners in 2004. By the age of thirteen Jazz was trained and competed at Grand Prix level by Tineke Bartels. The pair were a member of the Dutch team at the 2002 World Equestrian Games winning also the CDI in Eindhoven. In janury 2005 Broere Jazz returned to the competition ring with Broere's leading rider Kirsten Beckers at the national dressage show in Boxtel, the Netherlands to win the Grand Prix with 70.63%.

In the current top Grand Prix positions we find the dressage gelding " Parzival" out of the Ster Pref Prestatie mare "Fodora" (Ulft Roemer) ridden by Dutch rider Adelinde Cornelissen who is currently ranked number one in the individual WBFSH rankings with another son "Nartan" (Jazz x Le Faquin) in 21st position, BMC's OJAY DVB (Jazz x Formatuer) in 56th position and the 12 year old gelding "Premier (Jazz x Ulft) in 77th postion. His sire "Cocktail" by Purioso out of the ster pref prestatie mare "Ulisa" by Le Val Blanc x Hessel (Trakehner) died much too young, ridden by Anky Van Grunsven, he won several World Cup competitions and like his son was awarded the KEUR predicate. His dam, a Keur mare "Charmante" (Ulster x Amor) was out of the KEUR Preferent Prestatie mare, "Warmante" (Amor x Perciles xx) who also produced the advanced dressage horses Gucci by "Beethoven" and "Larmante" by Olympic Ferro.

Once again we can observe that the combination of the Dutch Gelders and Holstein bloodlines found in this damline has been of great significant infleunce and produced yet another Great Dressage Stallion for the KWPN.

Recently we find the young up and coming stallion sons "Wynton" (Winston) out of the Oldenburg mare Acacia (Matador II x Rubinstein) Champion of the dressage stallion Championship in 2009, Champion six year old at the Dressage World Championship at Verden, Germany the Pavo Cup winner in 2008 ahead of his paternal sibling "Westpoint" out of the Elite Preferent mare "Jerlinda" (Michealangelo x Le Mexico) who was winner of the Pavo Cup Dressage Championship in 2009. Both stallions were approved by the KWPN in 2007. In their first seasons at Stud both stallions proved a popular choice with breeders with Wynton covering 636 mares and Westpoint covering 681. These young Jazz sons show tremendous aptitude as a Grand prix horses of the future.
